Paul Simon - Graceland
Just a classic road trip album. So much wit, wisdom, and cleverness packed into stories of broken down people.
Best Tracks: Graceland, Gumboots, Under African Skies, Crazy Love
Men Ha Ten Bagad - Dakar
This album is MAD holy cow. Such a bold, rich spectrum and just constant energy. Like bagpipers on drugs.
Top Tracks: Gailcienne, L’homme rouge, Paprika
Taylor Swift - folklore
Swift’s quarantine album, dark, moody, and mature. Really, really enjoy this album, with it’s themes of lost innocence and nostalgia.
Top Tracks: the 1, seven, august, this is me trying
Roomful of Teeth - Colorado
Honestly, this album is a bit much for me, for most of it. Kind of hit or miss. But, as always, William Brittelle is brilliant. Epic, digital, and manic. The John Luther Adams is also very good.
Top Tracks: The Shimmering Desert, The Colossus, Cathedrals in the Desert
Jaden - Syre
Jaden is surprisingly good, given that most children of celebrities make self-indulgent music. Their is some self-indulgence and a few lyrics posturing which I just don’t believe, but Jaden is good, the production is (largely) great, and Icon is a moood.
Top Tracks: B, E, Icon
Stan Rogers - The Very Best Of
I do not remember why I downloaded this album. But I am glad I did. Fogarty’s Cove is really fun with a lil skip beat in the chorus. While Squall also has some really nice and heartbreaking scene setting in the chorus.
Top Tracks: Fogarty’s Cove, White Squall
Eighth Blackbird - Hand-Eye
I’m here for Honstein’s Conduit and the Cerrone’s South Catalina. Conduit is bright and energetic, one of my favorite pieces and South Catalina is tots gorge.
Top Tracks: Conduit, South Catalina
